Nail fungus, also known as onychomycosis, can happen to anyone. Most think that one can only receive nail fungus from a nail salon; however, it goes beyond just that. It’s also about lifestyle and how well you take care of yourself. It typically infects someone who has a minor skin or nail injury, has or had athlete’s foot, wear shoes that cause for their feet to sweat heavily, walking barefoot in damp public areas like shower rooms or swimming areas.
One who has nail fungus, typically have discoloration within their nail beds which tend to be green or black. If left untreated, it can cause permanent damage to your nail. It may also lead to infection which can spread beyond your hand and foot, effecting other areas of your body. If you have a surpessed immune system due to diabetes, medications, or other conditions, a nail fungus can be detrimental.
